KATE MOSS

At the occasion of Paris Photo and the Mois de la Photo-Off, GOLANROUZKHOSH GALLERY (Paris) presents a selection of Christophe Beauregard photographic works "UNDER COVER". I took part in PR campaign, assisting in all communication activities. The plan involved a launch event and media relations. I am pleased to invite my readers to the Vernissage on Saturday the 15th of November from 6 to 10 pm. It will be a nice evening with the artist, art amateurs, students, collectors, journalists... a real French art event! For all of you who can't visit the exhibition, I present with a short review on the project.

Christophe Beauregard is a French photographer who lives and works in Paris. His atelier is located in the Bateau Lavoir of Montmartre. He portraits famous and anonymous individuals in their staged singularity. UNDER COVER gathers more than 20 photographies from his different series including unpublished prints. I met Cristophe in spring at the exhibition Paparazzi! Photographers, Stars and Artists was developed and organized by the Centre Pompidou-Metz. It is the most extensive exhibition on the global phenomenon and the aesthetic of paparazzi photography to date. Around 500 works and documents trace the unbroken fascination with star photography and at the same time reflect its influence on the visual arts and fashion photography.

Since 2000 and adjunct to his career as a portrait photographer, Christophe Beauregard dedicates his artistic practice to symptoms of "contemporary individualism". Christophe’s photographic series intent to show the somatization of the body in the endless search for Meaning: plastic surgery in Chirurgie, 2005, bias-through-art perception in Pentimento, 2011. Christophe also deals with the injuries caused by social exclusion: Semantic tramps, 2008 up to the point of where human and technology merges Technomades, 2008.

With UNDER COVER, Christophe Beauregard wishes to address the various processes he uses to actually reach his models. He reveals them in completely infiltrating their social sphere, the image they project or their shape and, as a result, invites the viewer to mimic his artistic process. He places the issue of artifice and pretence at the heart of his research. His work deals with ambiguity, language tricks and sensorial devices (music, lighting, costumes, etc..) operated or invented by anonymous people.

Christophe works were also presented by the Alcatel-Lucent Foundationin, LVMH in Paris, Bon Marché Rive Gauche in Paris, Festival Voies Off inArles, Artothèquein Auxerre. After being awarded a residency at CENTQUATRE he was also part of the group show Par Nature in 2012.

When: November 13th to November 26th 2014.

Where: Galerie Golan Rouzkhosh, 32 rue Feydeau. 75002 Paris.
